Update Mode
When the
Mix
is replayed, the written level is read back from the recorded mix. In this
example, however, the level is changed at timecode 00:00:10:00. The change in level is
written as a relative change.
The previously recorded variation in level is preserved but with an offset equal to the
Update
change.
Note:
It’s important to note that the level will continue to be written for as long as
Timecode
is running!
Touch Write Mode (moving fader consoles only)
This illustrates a modification to
Read, Write, Update
, the three standard automation
modes. The diagram shows the same fader as it was
Updated
in the previous example.
For this next pass, however, the touch-sensitive moving fader has been armed for
Touch-Write
mode. The channel begins the pass in
Read
mode, replaying the recorded
level changes. At timecode 00:00:15:00 the operator puts his finger on the fader and drops
the level quite steeply. The action of touching the fader puts the fader into
Write
mode at
that point. Any change is recorded as if it was new information. When the fader is released
the channel goes back into
Read
mode.
