Format Selection
This is an important area to understand fully, since selecting a “wrong” operating mode or
speaker format can cause speaker outputs and/or monitor inputs to be muted automatically,
resulting in loss of signal and confusion.
Default Power-up Mo

e
The console power-up default mode is conventional
Multitrack/Stereo
mode with metering
performed on the bargraphs.
This means that the input source
Bank Select
is set to
Stereo
, the
Speaker Format
is also set to
Stereo
and all
Speakers
except
L&R
are muted. In addition, the
Main
and
Nearfield
mutes are
activated to avoid unexpected noises in the monitor speakers.
Monitor Source Selection
The
Monitor Sources
comprise two banks of five switches, with each
bank exclusively selectable via a pair of interlocking bank switches
labelled
Stereo
and
5.1
.
Stereo
There are five stereo sources:
ST 1-3
and
Lt Rt
are derived externally via D-type connectors on the
rear of the console,
Stereo Buss
is derived internally.
5.1 (wi

e)
There are five 8-wide monitor sources:
EXT 1-4
are derived externally via D-type connectors on the rear of
the console,
DIR/PB
is derived internally.
Note:
The
DIR/PB
signal follows whatever is selected on the
Direct/Playback
keys immediately below. The
Direct/Playback
keys interlock and force all monitor inputs to follow either
the
Direct
or
Playback
signals.
When the bank switch is selected to
5.1
, the wide source switches operate
Concurrently
(default). A short press on any switch selects that input, allowing you to choose multiple sources
and mix all the input signals together into the speakers.
